Slang Chickens’ Parking Lot Performance

Slang Chickens are busy gents these days. Their sophomore EP, My Floor is available now online and their west coast tour, including a handful of shows at SXSW just wrapped. In between all of the mayhem, the Los Angeles quartet found time to put on an exclusive performance for BestNewBands.com – in a parking lot, no less.

The Chickens also filmed a series of videos for the music website as their March artist in residence. Check it out here for tips on touring, footage of practice and Slang Chickens’ instructional video on how to cook a (Slang) Chicken.

The SXSW panel, “Vinyl 3.0: Challenges And Rewards,” went off without a hitch on Saturday morning! Off Central clients Pete Lyman of Infrasonic Mastering and Jennifer Freund of DoradoPkg spoke alongside other major players in vinyl mastering and production, offering an inside look at how vinyl gets made along with tips for those new to the process. For those of you who weren’t in Austin, or couldn’t shake the hangover and drag yourself out of bed, the entire panel is now streaming online.

Pete Lyman, principal mastering engineer at Infrasonic Sound, and Jennifer Freund, president of DoradoPkg, have been selected to speak on the 2011 SXSW Panel: Vinyl Records 3.0 – Challenges & Rewards. Which means we’re all headed to Austin!

On Saturday, March 19, 2011, panelists (Lyman, Freund, Recordpressing.com’s Oliver Goss, Rainbo Records’ Steve Sheldon and more) will discuss what it takes to successfully release an album on vinyl – from prepping the audio all the way to securing distribution.
