Jordan Galland’s upcoming feature film Alter Egos is set for release Spring 2012, but work behind the scenes has been in full swing for months. Melinda Newman of Daily Variety recently spoke with Galland (writer, director, producer) and Sean Lennon, who provides Egos’ epic superhero soundtrack.

Sean Lennon To Score “Alter Egos,” Written & Directed by Jordan Galland

Sean Lennon has signed on to score the forthcoming film, Alter Egos, written and directed by Jordan Galland and starring Danny Masterson, Kris Lemche, Brooke Nevin and Joey Kern. Lennon, who also makes a cameo as a super villain, began working on the project earlier this summer, composing what Galland describes as “an epic superhero sound.”

This is the second time that Lennon has scored a film by Jordan Galland, the first of which was the critically acclaimed Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Undead, an indie romantic comedy about vampires, Shakespeare and the Holy Grail, released in the summer of 2010.

Alter Egos, which began production this past spring in New York City and Long Island, follows an underappreciated superhero at a time when superheroes have lost government funding and all public support.

Jordan Galland is no stranger to the art of the cover song, including his version of Duran Duran’s “Hungry Like the Wolf” and Pulp’s “Bad Cover Version (read more about them here). Our friends over at the blog Cover Me asked Jordan to contribute a track to their third birthday celebration this week and Jordan welcomed the challenge, with his unique take on Cibo Matto’s “Birthday Cake.”

The Americans Sing a Requiem

The Americans have released the first official music video from their forthcoming “White EP” for the track “Requiem”. Co-produced by Sean Lennon, who also lends vocals, and directed by Jordan Galland, the video plays homage to “Harold & Maude” in a Hal Ashby inspired landscape.

Music to Steal a Bike to: Jordan Galland Featured on The Neistat Brothers’ HBO Series

Fellow New Yorkers Van and Casey Neistat commissioned Jordan Galland to create a number of songs for their HBO summer series, The Neistat Brothers. The show, in the words of Van, has the feel of a “handmade home-movie television show.”

Similarly, Jordan’s music takes an organic approach with homemade beats (salt shakers, pots and pans), mangy, T-Rex Style guitar and lush pop vocals. Watch The Neistat Brothers Trailer for a peak into the show’s sonic landscape and be sure to watch the finale on July 30th to hear a couple of never-released tracks!
